What this service is

My Talking Friend provides speech sound practice materials for use at home, under the supervision of a parent or guardian.

It is not a medical service. It does not diagnose, assess, or treat any condition, and it does not replace a licensed speech-language pathologist. Nothing in the app or on this site is medical advice.

When to see a professional

If you have any concern about your child’s speech, language, hearing, feeding or development, speak to a qualified professional. The free sound check screens for a number of signs that warrant this and will say so, but it cannot catch everything and is not a substitute for an assessment.

Accounts

An account must be created and operated by an adult who is the parent or legal guardian of the children on it. You are responsible for keeping your login details secure.

Subscriptions

The free tier is free indefinitely and does not require payment details. Paid subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and you can cancel at any time through the same store or payment provider you subscribed with; access continues to the end of the paid period.

Subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play are governed by that store’s refund policy.

Content

The practice materials, word lists, exercises and text on this site are our property and are provided for personal use with your own children. They may not be redistributed or used commercially without permission.

Liability

We provide this service in good faith and with clinical review of its content, but we cannot guarantee any particular outcome for any individual child. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for decisions taken on the basis of the material here — including a decision to delay seeking professional help.
